The Kurdistan Technical Institute, in scientific coordination with a team of researchers from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in Chapel Hill, USA, has published a new scientific article in the International Breastfeeding Journal. This international journal is indexed in the Web of Science, and according to the annual report of Clarivate JCR journals, it has an Impact Factor of 2.8 and ranks in Q1 in the fields of pediatrics and maternal health. The article, titled "Waiting with Milk: Breastfeeding Practices of Yezidi Mothers Rescued from Genocide in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq," has been published. This study is the result of international collaborative work and reflects the life experiences of Yezidi mothers who survived genocide and displacement; it also explores the effects of internal trauma, migration, and difficult life circumstances on the breastfeeding process and the overall health of mothers.

In this study, Dr. Pegah Seydi, a psychologist and director of the Counseling Center at the Kurdistan Technical Institute, has internally analyzed the underlying causes of attachment disorders and explored the inner mechanisms related to maternal bonding and breastfeeding among displaced survivors. This highlights the importance of integrating psychological support into maternal and child health programs, especially in war-affected and disaster-stricken areas.
