Dr. Pega Saidi, a lecturer at Kurdistan Technical Institute, in collaboration with a group of American researchers, has published a research article titled “Comparative Analysis of General Functioning Subscale (GF6+): Exploring Measurement Invariance in Kurdish Parents of Autistic and Non-Autistic Children” in the International Journal of School & Educational Psychology.
The journal, published by Taylor & Francis, is indexed in both Scopus and Web of Science, and had an impact factor of 2.14 in 2024.
After validating the reliability and consistency of the GF6+ tool among parents of both autistic and non-autistic children in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the study revealed that the most significant challenge faced by families with autistic children is accepting their child’s diagnosis. The research underscores the importance of adapting and localizing assessment tools to better reflect and address family functioning within the Kurdish cultural context.
On behalf of the Deanship of Kurdistan Technical Institute, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Pega Saidi and look forward to seeing even more impactful work in the future.
